Composition:Al 0.8Mg
Characteristics Properties:Very good resistance to atmospheric corrosion. Very good weldability. Very suitable for decorative anodizing (two step colour anodizing). Good formability by pressing and roll forming. Medium strength alloy.
Applications:Building industry use: sidings, roofing, corrugated sheets. Furniture, anodized parts. Food and chemical equipment, containers. Name plates, road signs. Super structures in marine and offshore applications. Packaging, equipment for heating and cooling, can bodies. Piping, tubing.

5000 Series Marine Aluminium Alloy Sheet 5Alloy 5049


Composition:Al 2.1Mg 0.8Mn
Characteristics Properties:5000 series alloys include Al-Mg and Al-Mg-Mn types. They are in the main stronger than 3000 series and have good corrosion resistance and weldability combined with formability. They are mainly used in sheet or plate form but can be obtained as extrusions, albeit which much less flexibility of shape than 6000 series alloys. 5049 alloy: Lower strength than high Mg alloys. Good corrosion resistance. Can be used at temperature up to 100°C without fear of intercrystalline stress corrosion cracking
Applications:Air container in road transport, tankers, static containers operating up to 100°C

Composition:Al 2.5Mg Cr
Characteristics Properties:Very good corrosion resistance to seawater and marine and industrial atmosphere. Very good weldability. Good cold formability. Medium high strength alloy with a strength slightly higher than 5251. Medium high fatigue strength.
Applications:Boilermaking, containers. Nameplates, traffic (road) signs, architectural paneling. Welded tubes, chemical industry, irrigation, desalination units. Pressure vessels. Rivets.

Composition:Al 4.5Mg 0.7Mn Cr
Characteristics Properties:Very good weldability. Very good corrosion resistance to seawater and marine atmosphere. High strength alloy with a strength slightly higher than 5086. High fatigue strength. Good cold and stretch formability in soft temper in relation to strength. Difficult to extrude in thin or complex sections. Can be produced in thick plates without internal stress.
Applications:Structures and equipment: shipbuilding (welded components), masts, platforms. Chemical apparatus and storage tanks, cryogenics. Pressure vessels, piping and tubing. Automotive: welded tank trailers and welded dump bodies. Railway: welded tanks and structural components. Military vehicle bodies and equipment: armour plates, collapsible bridges. Composition:Al 3.1Mg Mn Cr
Characteristics Properties:Very good weldability. Very good resistance to corrosion, especially in seawater and marine and industrial atmosphere. Good cold formability. Medium high strength slightly higher than 5052 and 5251. High fatigue strength. Fair machinability. Anodizing quality allows excellent anodizing properties. More difficult to extrude than AlMgSi alloys.
Applications:Welded structures in nuclear, chemical and food industries. Pressure vessels, piping and tubing (for hydraulic application), boilermaking. Marine and offshore applications, ship building, boats, office equipment. Architectural use, anodizing quality. Appliances, vehicle bodywork. Road poles and structures. Common sheet alloy for medium strength. Rivets.
